  • Thaa She Blows

    Thaa She Blows

Last Friday I needed to get rid of a load of boxes, so I decided to burn them.

As I burned them I realised what a bad idea it was.

It wasn’t the giant flames leaping out of the fire pit that got me concerned.

Nor the smoke which, if the wind had changed, could have blown into the neighbours.

What actually tipped me off to the bad idea was the Vesuvius sized pieces of ash blowing up from the fire!

That was when I thought I should probably have not done burnt quite that amount of cardboard.

Hey ho… all was well and I got rid of a load of cardboard.

Anyway, on to today’s best stories from the world of business and entreneurialism.

    Ciao,

    Michael

The Danger of “Not Good Enough”

This is a short blog post fropm Seth Godin, but I strongly recommend everyone reads it.

Like most of his content, it’s simple and to the point.

You don’t have to have pages of content to make something valid.

    Check it out here.

How to Generate New Leads Without Spending a Fortune

    Every brand needs new customers.

Those of you who have been in business for a while may be doing fine generating high sales from your existing customers.

But that business model isn’t sustainable forever. There comes a point when you won’t be able to grow without new leads.

This is especially important for newer companies. Since you haven’t been operating for a long time, you definitely need new leads just to survive.

But where do you find them?

Neil Patel shows you how in this article on Quicksprout.

3 Powerful Ways To Retire Rich

We all want to retire rich.

    The big question is… HOW?

Well, this may not have the exact answer, but it’s a start 😉

  • Frankendog

    Frankendog

Earlier this week BeeBee went to the vet to have a cyst removed. In order to do the operation they had to shave some of her fur.

Something you can’t get away from is that an operation looks way worse when they’ve had to shave a patch of fur!

There’s something about the square that’s been shaved with a frankenstein-esque cut sewn together with nylon in the middle of it.

    Here’s BeeBee’s stitches…

It’s not looking so bad now, but it was pretty gruesome whe she first got back.

As if that’s not enough woes in one week, I’ve also had a cough for nearly two months and Holly forced me to the doctor yesterday.

Turns out that it’s acid in the stomach. Well, either it’s that or it’s some kind of nast stomach bug. Time will tell.

Who knew that acid reflux could you give you a cough. I sure as heck didn’t, but then maybe that’s just my lack of common knowlede.

Anyhoo… apparently the acid can sit on your throat during the evening and night, causing a cough that won’t go away.

What is it about getting older that means you get more stomach acid?

I never used to get it, and now I have to have water with my whisky because I get heart burn otherwise.

I know, you don’t need to tell me, it’s a hard life 😀

But that’s enough of my nattering, check out today’s best stories from the world of business, entrepreneurialism and life in general.

    Ciao,

    Trump You Twat

The Man Gets More Horrific With Every Passing Minute

I had to start with this story because it just beggars belief.

What has he done this time?

    Here’s what…

    • President Donald Trump expressed admiration for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s rule over his country.
    • Trump called Kim “a tough guy” for being able to “take over a country” at 27-years-old.
    • In 2017, Trump made similar comments about Kim. Trump described Kim as a “a pretty smart cookie” for cementing his dictatorial rule after his father, Kim Jong-il, died in 2011.

It seems that he’s forgotten that Kim has killed many people in the path to retaining his grip on power, including his own uncle and half-brother.

It seems he’s ignored that he’s a dictator who seriously abuses the people in his country.

Incredibly he has come out saying he admires what he’s doing!

I mean, if I was living in the US and my president said he admired the work of a murdering dictator, I’d be booking a flight out of the country.

    Here’s the whole story.

6 Facebook Advertising Mistakes Every Marketer Makes

There’s no point in making the same mistakes as other people when it comes to your paid advertising.

After all, it’s going to cost you money to make mistakes, and if someone else has already spent the money making those mistakes and is happy to share them with you, then you’d be stupid not to listen to them.

That’s exactly what Convince And Convert has done in this article.

Get 60 Percent More Engagement From Your Emails

    9 Email List Segmentation Strategies

You know me, I love email marketing. Heck, my entire business is based on email marketing.

There’s still no better way to sell online than to have a responsive email list.

In the last few years segmentation and engagement has been the all-consuming topic in this industry as email providers give more importance to engagement from your emails when they decide if it’s going to the inbox or the spam folder.

It’s definitely possible to go overboard on the segmentation process, I know because I’ve done it.

But there are some segmentations which can make a big different to you, and these are the most important ones

  • F**k Trump

    F**k Trump

If nothing else, Trump has probably caused the most controversy as a president in recent history.

Personally I think he’s a moron. If you’re for him, then I’m sorry, there’s not much I can do to help.

One thangs for sure… Robert De Niro ain’t giving him much love!

    Standing Ovation by F*****g Trump

(not literally, that would be wrong!)

Robert De Niro has always been an outspoken critic about Donald Trump, but on Sunday night he lifted it to a new level!

In his speech he said “F**k Trump” and the audience awarded him with a standing ovation.

The Ultimate Guide To Question Headlines

Learn To Get Killer Open Rates By Asking A Question

    Headlines are important.

    Scratch that.

Headlines are possibly the most important element of an email or sales page.

    Why?

Because if you don’t get a reader interested in the headline, they sure as heck ain’t gonna be reading the rest of your writing on the page.

(or opening your email if it’s a subject line)

However, most folk don’t spend enough time thinking about the headsline they’re going to use, or how they’re going to use it.

    Me included.

Time is always precious, so how can we write a headline quickly that we know will get attention?

    By asking oursdelves four questions.

The four questions outlined in this blog post from the awesome Copyblogger team.

Nobody Wants To Buy Your Stuff?

    Here’s How To Fix It…

Only a small number of the people who visit your website are going to want to buy your stuff.

    And no, it’s nothing personal.

Unless you have a photo of yourself on the sales page and you’re super-ugly.

But then you may be selling make-overs and able to turn that into a fortune!

It’s simply the fact that only a few people who come to your site are going to want the benefits of your product enough to be prepared to part with their hard earned mulla.

Simply put, you start at the top of a funnel (the widest part) with lots of people visiting your website, and as you go down the funnel people drop out until you get to the number of people purchasing.

Here’s a nice graphic from Quicksprout showing it.

The question all companies want answering is…

How do I get the most people from Awareness to Conversion?

And that’s an answer which Neil Patel answers in this superb post.

  • Goodbye for a while

    Goodbye for a while

    …but not forever.

Tomorrow morning, at just after 7am, we fly to Heraklion in Crete, and I’m not going to be working for a week.

That means I’m also not going to writing blog posts for a week either.

I’ll still be posting on Twitter at https://twitter.com/mikeywilding

So if you’re not already following me on Twitter, then head over there and follow me now.

We’re staying in a new hotel called Abaton, it’s meant to be super-luxurious and the photos look incredible.

Will it live up to the photos?

I’ll let you know via Twitter, and possible the odd photo on my Instagram account at https://www.instagram.com/mikeywilding/

To say that I’m excited is an understatement.

So, until next week, have a great bank holiday weekend.

    Ciao,

    Michael

  • Oh my gaawwwd

    Oh my gaawwwd

Two weeks ago we were lucky enough to see… Hamilton!

And a big thank you to the two friends who had the two spare tickets and offered them to us.

If you’re not into your theatre, then you should know that getting Hamilton tickets is as rare as finding a goldmine in your garden.

It can happen, but you’ve got to be damn lucky.

So a big thank you to Charles and Sophia for choosing us to join them.

And there’s only one thing to say about the show…

    WOW.

    I mean holy f**k it’s good.

Not only is it good, but it’s new, fresh and different.

If you ever get the chance to go and see it, then you should go and see it.

It’s about Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of America who gets very little recognition in comparison to the other founding fathers.

The story is so interesting that I’m now reading the book about Alexander Hamilton that inspired the show.

What made him so special, is that he not only came from nothing, but that his vision, energy and entrepreneurialism are not only what the USA believes as it’s core foundations, but wouldn’t have existed without him.

    It’s that simple.

He was responsible for America being the country it is today!

Of course, the other founding fathers played their parts, but in actuality, none of it would have been possible without him.

And if there’s ever a claim to be recognised for, that would be it.

Now, saying you should see the show after telling you that it’s virtually impossible to get tickets isn’t really fair.

So if you want to read the book, here is where you can get it on Amazon.

Get it now and enjoy the read 🙂

    All the best,

    Michael
