    Death by fridge

I hope you had a good weekend.

If you didn’t want to kill someone with a fridge, then it’s bound to have been better than mine!

Ya see… we’re re-designing our kitchen, and since we live in an old (very) house, it’s all funnily shaped.

It’s one of the things we love about it.

However, we’re in the process of designing a new kitchen, and f**k me it’s difficult.

In fact, so far we’ve worked with two kitchen companies (one better than the other) and spent probably around 40 hours work on it and it’s still not right.

Heck… it’s not just not right. It’s nowhere near right!

    Why?

    Because kitchen designers can only:

    a) Put pre-determined boxes into their CAD layout
    b) Use products their company supplies

And that causes us a lot of problems.

What I need is someone who isn’t restricted by either of these two things.

What I need is someone who can think outside the box and really come up with a unique design that fits not only are (extensive) requirements, but also the building.

So… I am asking you… do you know of any independent kitchen designers?

(or someone who could do kitchen design)

They need to be damn good, hugely inventive, and know exactly what products are available on the market and what we could have.

If you do, please please please connect me. It’s starting to drive me nuts. And since we start building it in the New Year, there’s not much time left!

    Over and out.

    Michael

    $110,000 raised for homeless veteran

Sometimes everything breaks, and it feels like shite.

Just last night, at about midnight, I discovered that I’d messed up the bounce settings on my mailing software, so it wasn’t receiving bounces properly.

When I discover something like that I have to fix it there and then, even if it’s midnight.

So I did, and now I’m knackered. Hey ho.

Then I ran the bounce processing and discovered…

One of my SMTP serves is in an IP block that has hit Microsoft’s blacklist, which meant… thousands of bounced email addresses!

    Aaaaaaggghhhhh.

I hadn’t seen the issue because bounces weren’t happening. Just yesterday we had nearly 6000 email addresses bounce because of it.

    Was I irritated?

    You betcha.

So this morning I was feeling tired, and kinda pissed off, then I read this story about a homeless guy who gave his last twenty bucks to buy petrol for a lady who had run out on a motorway.

In return, she started a campaign for him that has raised over $110,000 and will hopefully get him off the street and back to work.

What relevance does this have to me, you or this newsletter?

Just that it shows however bad we think things are, it’s not as bad as it could be, and that if we’re kind to other people, if we help other people, then they’ll be more generous to us than we could ever imagine.

And I think it’s important to remember that when you consider the ethos of your business.

  • Sapiens (it kinda makes you think!)

Sapiens (it kinda makes you think!)

Have you read the book Sapiens?

    It will blow your mind!

If you haven’t got a copy, go and get one immediately.

It’s the history of homo sapiens and how we became the most dominant animal in the world in a very short timeframe.

Today I want to consider something that’s talked about the very beginning of this book.

The fact that almost all of modern society is invented.

    It’s fictional.

And the only reason it works is because…

    …everybody belives in it.

If everyone stopped believing in it then our society would collapse.

Which is why, of course, that’s never going to happen.

But think about it for a second.

    What is a company?

Nothing. It’s something on a piece of paper that says it exists and has legal rights.

But then what are legal rights?

    Something homo sapiens have invented.

There is no such thing as law, we’ve imagined it up, there’s no such thing as human rights, we’ve imagined it up, there’s no such thing as companies or money.

    They’re all imagined by humans.

In biological terms, which is how a scientist would look at things, they don’t exist.

We’ve created these things to give our society a way of functioning. And, without giving too much of the book away, our ability to do this is one of the resaons we’re such a dominant species.

Now that may freak you out.

But think of it like this…

If we’ve imagined all these things, and the only reason they work is because everybody belives in them, then you personally are capable of doing absolutely anything.

In fact, if you imagine it’s something you can do, then you can do it. All you need to do is get other people to believe in your imagination.

    Which isn’t so difficult 😉

  • Event Junky

    Event Junky

Do you like going to seminars?

Running seminars is big business these days, and you get seminar junkies who go to every single one that they hear about.

    But they’re damn expensive.

Take Todd Brown’s recent MFA live event…

    Tickets were $997!

Sell a thousand tickets and you’ve just made a million dollars in sales, before you begin pitching anything from the stage.

Which is why in recent years the quanitty of seminars being hosted is getting larger and larger.

The question is… are they worth it?

IMHO there are two reasions to go to a seminar:

    1) Content
    2) Networking

If you’re going for networking then you’ve got to be hugely pro-active and know exactly why you want to network, and what you’re going to get out of it.

There’s no point in networking without having something to offer the people you’re networking with.

If you’re going for content, then spending nearly a thousand bucks on a ticket, plus flights and hotel accomodation is a lot of money.

At least, I think it’s a lot of money, but then again I have been known to be kinda tight.

Like any product or service, some of the seminars have great content and some of them don’t.

Todd Brown’s MFA had some pretty damn good content, but you’d expect that with speakers like…

    Clayton Makepeace
    Brian Kurtz
    Rich Schefren
    Molly Pittman
    Mike Filsaime
    Ryan Levesque
    Jon Benson
    Dave Dee

    And of course… Todd Brown.

    That’s some serious line-up!

But the fee is out of reach for a lot of folk, which is why I would recommend you go and buy the notes from someone who went.

    Like these ones.

This is an awesome way to get all the content, for a fraction of the cost.

But there’s actually a better reason to get it, other than it costing your thirty bucks instead of a thousand, and that is…

By definition notes only take into account the most important actionable content.

When you deliver a speech you know you’ve got an hour, or longer, on stage. So you build your speech to include anecdotes, stories and other things to keep your audience interested and entertained.

For us folk who just want the nuts and bolts, you can assume that in every hour long speech, there’s about fifteen minutes worth of truly actionable content.

By getting notes from the event instead of going, you get only the most actionable elements from each speaker. All the fluff is removed.

And that’s the single best way to move your business forward.

You don’t want to get bogged down with the fluff, there’s waaaay to much of that anyway.

So you can save a shite load of cash, and only get the parts that are important.

Here’s where to get notes from Todd Brown’s 2017 MFA.

    Inside these notes you’ll get:
The “24-Hour Traffic Trigger” – revealed by Todd Brown – that average marketers in your niche will NEVER be able to afford
but you can put to work (at a profit!) and see real results from within just 24 hours!
Clayton Makepeace’s almost-unbelievably easy and effective way to create instant trust in your prospects
even if you have no track record
 a distinct lack of authority
and zero credibility in your market!

How Brian Kurtz turns ordinary email leads into ravenous devourers of content who will drop everything the moment they see his name in their inbox
and the fastest and most effective way to do the same for your marketing messages!

UNKNOWN? Use Rich Schefren’s trick to become an instant authority expert within 25 seconds from the start of any marketing campaign!

Molly Pittman has 4 simple numbers you need to know so you never again have to wonder about when you need to “trim the fat” from your campaigns and when you need to scale!

Mike Filsaime’s discovery of the “Ultimate Webinar” close even the greenest and most timid presenters are using to turn webinars into hefty paydays!

The one simple question Ryan Levesque asks new customers in the very first email to make them fall head-over-heels in love with him and do his bidding!

Cut your writing time by up to 75% with tested and proven Jon Benson’s “Email Themes”!

Dave Dee tells you how 5 hours of work can results in a MONSTER DAY of sales
 as often as you choose
at least 15 times a year!

I mean damn, any more than that and you wouldn’t have time to implement it.

Get all these things right here for just 3% of what people paid to actually attend the event!

    Michael

  • You think you have it tough!

You think you have it tough!

While we’re all moaning about how hard it is to learn to make a living online.

While there are millions of people every year spending money on “golden bullet’s” that don’t exist.

While forums are filled with people talking about how “the content’s good but there’s too much work to do“.

99.9% of the time we never think past ourselves.

We never think about how lucky we are to have been born in a country which is safe, has access to technology and the internet, good medicine, good schooling and enables us to even consider making an income (and a good one) online.

It’s estimated by the UN that in the poorest countries in the world there are 600 million children, yes that’s a heck of a lot, who are in school but aren’t actually learning anything.

Forget learning how to make money online, we’re talking about the basics of reading and writing.

In the South Sudan 75% of girls never go to school because they have to work and then marry.

In the Central African Republic there is one teacher for every 80 students.

In Guinea, the average time in education for women over the age of 25 is one year.

    So here’s my suggestion…

Next time you think there’s too much work involved in learning something new.

Next time you don’t put you mind to achieving what’s possible with the information you’ve been given.

Next time you’re about to moan about something.

    Pause for a second.

Think about the opportunity you have in front of you.

And then grab it with both hands and run with it as fast as you can, because there are hundreds of millions of people who’d like to have the opportunity you’ve just been given.

    All the best,

    Michael
