My working companion

Some people work on their own, some people have working companions.

I have a working companion that takes up more space than me, doesn’t take her share of the work, but who I wouldn’t live without.

Here she is…

As you can see, I’m only allowed the edge of my seat, and the jumping on and off has somewhat ruined the arm of the chair!

But it’s worth it 🙂

Recently I’ve been so busy that BeeBee’s only been getting short walks.

To make matters worse, because Holly and Max are staying at her mums while we do building work, I’ve only been seeing Max for an hour or so a day.

I should clarify… they live next door!

This morning when my alarm went off, I decided that I was being an idiot.

I got up and gave BeeBee a proper walk. It started the day well, made me feel good, and I was ready to start the day.

Getting back just after 8am, I went round to see Holly and Max and gave Max his breakfast.

Then I began to do some work about 9:30.

And you know what?

I felt waaaay better.

Yes my phone began ringing at 9:15, but I just ignored it.

Anybody who has anything urgent knows how to get hold of me, and if I answer it I’m going to be on the phone for at least 30 minutes.

If I do that… I’ll lose momentum of my morning and won’t get the work I want to do finished.

Instead I’m now powering through my list of jobs for the morning, I’m well on my way to having them finished, and then I can catch up on any phone calls.

The lesson… sometimes we need to give ourselves a kick in the ass and remember what’s important.

If you do, then the rest of your day will go much better.

Happy Friday,

Michael
