  • If THIS is you, then I’m sorry

If THIS is you, then I’m sorry

We had some turf delivered this morning, and the delivery driver couldn’t be bothered to help unload it.

It seems to be becoming standard that delivery drivers can’t be arsed to work.

We frequently get delivery drivers saying they tried to deliver to us and nobody was home.

The only problem with that is…

    I work from home.

    Holly’s always home.

My mum’s moved into her house, she works from home. And my 92 year-old grandfather lives with her, he’s always home.

Our house is a building site, and there’s always at least 4 people here to take packages all day and night.

    What’s really happened is…

They’re getting near the end of their shift, they don’t want to be late going home, so they just say we weren’t in rather than bother to drive the wrong direction to our house.

    And it p****s me off!

    Because here’s the thang…

If you want to make money then you’re going to have to damn well work for it.

    It’s exactly the same online.

If someone tells you that you can make five figures from home with no-effort, then they’re talking bullshit.

    Move on.

  • Builders in tights

    Builders in tights

What an end to a holiday… Max ended up back in hospital with an infection, and we’re hoping that he will be able to come home today.

It looks like just a normal viral infection, but we’re waiting for his blood tests to come back today to make sure there’s no blood infection and it’s not a shunt infection.

But the main thing is… he’s now looking much better, happier and has started eating again 🙂

I get the feeling we’re going to be getting a lot of these trips over the coming years.

Anyhoo… I started work this morning, looked out my window and what did I see…

    Builders in tights.

    Yup.

I’ve never thought about it before, but if you’d asked me if builders would ever where tights out of choice, I’m pretty sure I’d have said no.

But it’s true, and I’ll post a picture on my Facebook page and Twitter account later today.

    And do you know what.

It’s starting to get pretty damn cold here, so fair enough.

Quite simply they want to stay warm, and the best way to do that is by wearing tights.

We should all be thinking less about our image and more about how to achieve what we want to achieve as quickly as possible.

Which is why when ThriveCart told me I could let you know about their service I jumped at the offer!

You can check it out here immediately.

I’ve been using ThriveCart as my payment processor and affiliate tracking software since January, having moved from InfusionSoft, and it’s the best thing I ever did.

If you want to take money online, then quite simply… you need this software.

And what’s more… you can still get it on a lifetime deal before they change it to a monthly fee!

Inside you will find quite possibly one of the simplest methods for creating order forms that convert like crazy.

    5%, 10% , 15% conversions and higher!

All the design work has been done for you.

Their affiliate tracking system simply works.

    End of.

If you’ve got experience with affiliate tracking systems, you’ll know that most are a nightmare and don’t actually track very well.

But ThriveCart does, and it will pay all your affiliates automatically when you want them to be paid, you don’t even need to log in. Just set it to pay after 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, whatever you like, and it will send them Paypal payments automatically and mark it off on their account.

They have integratoions with all the major autoresponders, membership platforms and webinar platforms.

Heck, you can even connect fulfillment services if you send real-world products, so you never have to touch your product once someone has purchased it!

And if they don’t connect with it, they’ve got an integration with Zapier so you can link pretty much anything you can think of.

Basically, if you want to take payments online, if you want to make a lot of conversions, then you need to get this software today.

In case you haven’t realied, I love it.

So far we’ve taken $169,587.50 using it, and it’s never broken.

    Does it have my recommendation?

Hell yes, with bells on it.

TBH, if you don’t grab this now while you can still get lifetime access for one fee, then you should think about how serious you are about your online business.

  • These guys were marketing the shit out of you half a century ago

These guys were marketing the shit out of you half a century ago

McDonalds is one of the biggest brands in the world.

But how did it get there?

It started back in 1937 when Patrick McDonald opened his first food-stand selling hot dogs.

But it began it’s real journey in 1940, when his two sons joined the business and changed its name to McDonald’s Bar-B-Que.

Richard and Maurice, Patrick’s sons, were obsessed with efficiency. So much so that in 1948 they decided to re-design their kitchen to achieve the maximum efficiency when the store re-opened as McDonalds.

However, it turned out that it wasn’t efficient enough for them, and in 1952 they decided to improve it further.

So, with a piece of chalk, they mapped out their kitchen on a tennis court.

It was during this change that they decided to re-brand their restaurant and employed a local architect. This architect, Stanley Clark Mestion, helped them create the high gloss surfaces of red and white, the stainless steel brightly coloured sheet metals, and the now famous golden arches.

All that’s great, but it’s what they did with their marketing at this stage that really interests us.

We think we’re good at marketing.

And by “we”, I mean the modern world.

But we’re doing the same s**t these guys were doing half a century ago and calling it new.

Heck, they were doing it better than us, because they invented stuff that was so far ahead of their time it’s like a flying a plane in the 1300’s!

For example, back in 1952 they…

    * Turned off the heating to prevent people wanting to stay too long
    * Angled the seating so customers were over their food which promoted them to eat faster
    * Put the seats further apart, making it a less sociable place to eat
    * Used cone shaped cups so customers had to hold their drink while they ate, making them eat faster

That’s some clever ways of getting people in and out as fast as possible.

In fact, it was so clever that all the other fast-food chains started following suit.

Today, they do things like pump the air with a patented smell, which is why you always know when you’re near a McDonalds!

Imagine what they were told when they first suggested these ideas.

They were probably laughed at, mocked and told it would never work. But they went ahead and did it anyway.

    Why?

Because the only real way to know if something’s going to work is by trying it.

And that means you have to take risk.

But I’m not talking about financial risk, although that sometimes goes hand-in-hand.

I’m talking about the risk of failing.

Without taking that risk you won’t know if your plan’s going to work.

And that’s why failing is the best thing you can do if you want to be a success!

    Ciao,

  • My 9 month old son taught me this…

My 9 month old son taught me this…

Max, my son, is nine months old and he just taught me how I should do things.

He’s beginning to walk at the moment, and here’s what happens…

    He tries to stand.
    He falls down.
    He tries to stand.
    He falls down.
He puts his arms out for support.
    He stands.
    He starts to walk.
He lets go of your hands.
    He falls down.
He puts his arms out for support.
    He stands.
    He starts to walk.
He lets go of your hands.
    He falls down.

And he keeps doing this all day. He doesn’t get bored of it, he keeps going and going and going.

    The result?

Each day he manages to get a bit closer to standing up on his own.

Each day he manages to walk a little bit further on his own.

    Does he get frustrated?

Hell yes. And he screams at us when he does.

    Does that stop him?

    No friggin way!

He gets back up and does it again.

Which is exactly what most adults wanting to do something, don’t do.

Those of us who want to learn internet marketing are the worst. Usually because we’ve been lured in with false promises of overnight success and riches.

The truth is, we need to do exactly what Max is showing us to do.

We need to understand, truly understand, that we’re not going to learn how to do this overnight.

We need to understand, truly understand, that we’re going to get frustrated and pissed off.

We need to understand, truly understand, that if we want to succeed then we need to keep failing, because every time we fail we get a bit closer to succeeding.

And if you truly understand all those things, then you want to add yourself to the waiting list below, because when the doors re-open I’m going to show you how to become successful.

  • The money-maker most marketers forget

    The money-maker most marketers forget

I’m on a mission today, it’s 9:15am as I write this email and I’ve already written three other emails this morning.

Yesterday, Holly got asked to do some work today down in London. Luckily her mum’s been staying with us for the last few days, and could stay until lunch today to look after Max.

Which means… I’ve got until lunch to finish all my work, and then I’m moving on to daddy duties (which are far better than work!).

Tomorrow we’re back at hospital to have Max’s stitches out and the settings on his shunt changed, and on Friday we’re at a wedding.

So this morning is literally my last time to get everything done this week.

Anyhoo… I thought I’d highlight something that most marketers forget.

Heck, it can boost your revenue more than almost anything else online, and yet most companies rarely do it.

    Price changes.

Yup, as marketers we don’t think much about changing the prices of the products we market.

In fact, most companies spend less than six hours a year thinking about the pricing of their products.,

Yet… changing the price of your product can increase your revenue by as much as 30%.

Generally it’s recommended that a new company changes their pricing structure every six months, and more established companies every nine to twelve months.

    Why?

Getting the right price means that you get the type of customers you want, your product develops correctly for those customers, and your brand is perceived in the way you like.

For example, lots of people think using a freemium model (where you have a free tier) is a good idea.

Yet for a lot of companies, particularly new companies, this is a very bad idea. Your free tier will, obviously, have the most customers. Most of those customers will be very heavy on support and not willing to invest their time in learning.

Which means… you’re spending most of your support time, supporting customers who aren’t paying you anything.

And that makes no business sense!

The only way to find out how to price for your product is by testing it and reacting to the new customers you get.

If you change your pricing every six months you’ll get a whole range of different customers coming in.

Do this for a few years and you’ll begin to see what price ranges the customers you want are in, as well as which convert best for your product.

Never be scared to change the price of your product, up or down, when hitting the right price point can increase your revenue by 30%.
