It’s an orgy of theatre for me today, as Holly and I are going to see two shows, Breakfast At Tiffanys and Romeo & Juliet. We saw two other shows this week, and are going to another two next week.
I think of it as compensation for not going to this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Anyhoo… you’ll notice that my old email header image is back.
That’s because I got an email from Paul last night…
“Hi Michael
This is very ironic!!
You send out an email about how colourful our lives
should be and change your banner to a dreary looking
black colour!!
What was wrong with the old golden one? It used to
cheer me up in the morning to see you smiling at me
when I opened your emails but now – just a dreary
black banner.
Be like your Haribo’s and bring back the colour.
Regards
Paul”
And you know what, he’s right. To be honest I hadn’t been sure about the new one since I put it on my emails, and I made the mistake of not listening to my gut.
It took Paul to shoot me an email, for me to go… ‘do you know what, I agree with you.’
As internet marketers, we can often find ourselves making decisions on our own. But that’s not good. It’s important to be able to talk to someone, anyone, about your ideas.
Heck, it doesn’t even have to be one person. Me, I use two people primarily.
Anything business related, I chat with my mum about. Anything design related, I chat with Holly about.
And that’s not because they’re specialists in either field. Hell, it’s important to me they’re not specialists. What I want is someone else’s gut reaction.
Sometimes their gut reaction aligns with mine, sometimes it’s different. Sometimes it just brings up things I’d never thought of. But one thing is guaranteed…
…it’s always useful!
So find someone you can shoot the breeze with. And then shoot the breeze about the only systematic approach to building a successful online business out there.
