  • Gas Station Sushi

    Gas Station Sushi

    Sometimes you just want something, even if you know it’s going to suck.

    I’m a sucker for sushi. I always want it, and where we’ve moved there are no sushi restaurants. Seriously, the closest one is nearly an hours drive away. I mean WTF?!

    If we ever move again, sushi restaurants are going to be a part of my search criteria.

    Anyhoo… with this withdrawal of sushi availability, my cravings have got worse.

    So, when we were on the way back from the hospital today, I pulled into the gas station to fill up, went into pay and..

    …sitting in the glass cabinet with a halo around them were packs of sushi.

    In reality, they probably didn’t have a halo around them. To be honest, it was more likely to be a rim of dirt stuck between the window and the sushi.

    But I didn’t see that.

    All I saw was something I wanted, something I craved.

    Guess what I did… I bought it.

    And it was rank.

    I don’t me a little bit bad, I mean seriously gross.

    Even though it was gross I still ate it, because I was desperate for it.

    Gas stations don’t need to do any marketing, because their buyers are trapped. There is nowhere else to go to buy stuff. All they need to do, is to make sure they’ve got enough variety that there’s something for everyone.

    As marketers we want to find the folk like me, the folk who are desperate. Then we make stuff to sell  them.

    It doesn’t matter if you’re a network marketer, affiliate marketer, ecommerce marketer, heck… it doesn’t matter what kind of online business you want to go into, the principles are the same.

    Do you know what… if you’re not selling as much as you think you should be, then the chances are you’ve made a mistake with your audience.

    Look at your audience, who’s visiting your website, what are they reading (Google Analytics is useful for something) then ask yourself…

    Am I giving them what they’re desperate for?

    If the answer is ‘no’ or ‘I’m not sure’, then you better damn well go and find out and give it to them, coz if you don’t, somebody else will, and they’ll be taking the money you could be earning 😉

  • Marketing Godfather

    Marketing Godfather

    How often do you sit down in front of your computer, get ready to write an email, and then spend half an hour trying to come up with the subject line?

    If you’re anything like most marketers, it’s going to happen at least once a day.

    It certainly happens to me every day.

    I was asked recently how I kept coming up with subject lines and content ideas for my emails. How is it that I never struggle to find something to write about?

    My answer…

    Who says I never struggle to find something to write about!

    Every morning, when I sit down to write my emails for the day, I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to write about.

    Sometimes it comes easily, sometimes it doesn’t.

    The days it comes easily we don’t have to worry about. It’s the days where we struggle to find something to write about that we need techniques in place that allow us to overcome the hurdle and get something out there.

    So what do you do?

    You’ve got to look around you for inspiration, anything and everything.

    I always start with the subject line.

    Why?

    Because that’s what’s going to grab your readers attention. That’s what’s going to pull them into read the rest of your email.

    But not only that, it also gives you a starting point for your email.

    And ultimately, your subject line is only going to be a few words.

    One easy thing to do is go to your bookshelf and check out your books and DVD’s. Use their titles to give you inspiration.

    After all, the chances are they’ve sold millions of copies, so the titles have probably worked well 😉

  • The fountain of endless idea generation

    The fountain of endless idea generation

    Have you ever asked yourself what your biggest internet marketing hurdle is?

    Usually most people get stuck on product creation and traffic generation.

    The most common email I get is like this…

    I understand everything, and I know I can make it work, but I can’t think of a good product to create, everything has already been made.

    Or…

    Can you help my get traffic that actually converts? I’ve got an incredible product, but I just can’t get hot traffic to it in order to make sales

    Traffic generation I’ll cover in another email, because right now I want to focus on on product generation.

    More importantly, I want to focus on generating the ideas for products.

    Because here’s the thing, creating a product is easy. Coming up with the idea for the product is what most folk struggle with.

    But it doesn’t have to be difficult.

    That’s a mindset thang!

    The easiest product to start with is an info-product.

    An info-product is a product that trains your customer how to do something,

    How do you come up with endless ideas for these products?

    By doing this…

    1) Write a list of everything you know how to do in your niche (min. of 25 items)

    2) Write a list of everything that a beginner would need to get up to speed

    3) Write a list of everything a person of intermediate experience would need

    4) Write a list of everything a person with experience would need

    Go back to the list you made in step 1, and next to each item put a 2, 3 or 4 depending on what level of experience would be required.

    If some of the items on your list are so simple that they can’t be built out into a sizeable product, mark them as lead-generation items. You can turn these into free products for your visitors to get by opting into your mailing list.

    You now have a list of products to make.

    Always remember that…

    Even the simplest thing to you, is valuable to someone who doesn’t know how to do it

    I’ll give you an example in tomorrows email 😉

  • A Tube In The Brain

    A Tube In The Brain

    As you may have guessed by email on Friday last week, I lost my mojo a little bit.

    Unfortunately Max is back in hospital, and we’re going to be here for Christmas as he’s got a tube coming out of his brain.

    It’s called an EVD, which is basically an external shunt. It means he can’t leave the ward for a minimum of two weeks.

    So last week was quite frantic, however this week coming is going to be a bit better because they’re getting me accommodation so I can stay in the hospital grounds as well 🙂

    What has this got to do with internet marketing.

    Nothing and everything.

    There’s nothing directly related to internet marketing, but if it wasn’t for internet marketing, I wouldn’t be able to sit, as I am now, next to Max’s cot in the hospital and work.

    There wouldn’t be the option for me to temporarily move down to Cambridge and stay near him and Holly.

    This is the perfect example of why you must ask yourself why you want to make money online. Do you…

    A) Want to just make shite loads of money

    B) Want a lifestyle so that you have as much free time as possible while earning enough to live comfortably

    C) Want to do no-work and make loads of money

    If you are in category C, then scroll to the bottom and hit unsubscribe.

    That’s a fantasy.

    Yeah, I know it’s a fantasy that we’ve all had at one point, but if you still believe it’s a possibility, then you’re not ready for what I’m teaching.

    I can help you if you fall into category A, although you’re not my focus.

    My focus is to help people who want to change their lifestyle, who want (or need) to spend more time with their families, more time experiencing life, more time doing things other than working, whilst being able to maintain a good lifestyle in the process.

    That was always my goal, and I truly believe that if this is your goal, you will achieve it faster than you otherwise would.

    So ask yourself why you want to make money online.

    Define the reasons, define where you’d like to be by Christmas next year.

    Then we can start working to make sure you achieve it.

    Michael

    P.S. For the next few weeks I’m only going to be sending one email a day, instead of my usual two.

  • Bad News Good News

    Bad News Good News

    What a week!

    Holly’s back in hospital with Max 🙁

    If you’re new to my newsletter, Max is my son, and he was born with a condition called Hydrocephalus. He had a shunt fitted a couple of weeks ago and now, sadly, he’s back in hospital.

    He went back in for a setting change on the shunt, but they’ve found a possible infection. It hasn’t been confirmed yet, and we’re hoping that it’s not the case. If it is the case, it could mean a Christmas in hospital.

    So keep your fingers crossed for us 🙂

    The good news is…

    Anik Singal and Jimmy Kim have just released a new product called Exact Model, and if you’re not a fan of copywriting, it’s exactly what you’ve been waiting for.

    Honestly, it’s pretty damn awesome!

    It contains pre-written templates for every type of sales copy you’ll ever need.

    And not only are they pre-written, but you can easily adjust them to suit your product.

    It’s a bit like fill in the blanks. Except you’re doing it on templates created from sending 3.2 billion emails.

    You can use it to write your…

    * Sales letters

    * Sales videos

    * Upsells

    * Downsells

    * Emails

    * Product launches

    * Webinars

    * Re-engagement

    * Free content

    And, there are templates for you if you’re selling products in…

    * Internet marketing

    * Personal development

    * Health and wellness

    * Fitness

    * Hobby

    * Social media

    * Affiliate marketing

    * Coaching

    * List building

    * SEO

    Heck, to be honest, it wouldn’t take much to adapt them to fit pretty much any niche you wanted!

    If you’re hoping to get all this for a few bucks, it ain’t gonna happen. But when you bear in mind that a good sales letter can cost you $10,000 on it’s own, it’s cheap. Stupidly cheap.

    Getting every sales letter you’re ever gonna need, for 2.5% of the cost of a single one written by an expert copywriter, is kinda a bargain.

    Anyhoo, if you want to check out the video, you can see it in action using the link below.
